Mother Monster’s nonprofit will promote youth empowerment and equality.

Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation will launch February 29 with a fete at Harvard University, the singer and her mother and co-founder, Cynthia Germanotta, announced in a statement on Thursday (January 19). BTWF was created to promote youth empowerment and equality by encouraging self-confidence and well-being and bringing bullying to an end.

Joining the pop star at Sanders Theatre will be her partners in the endeavor: Harvard’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society, the MacArthur Foundation and the California Endowment.

Gaga has long been a staunch supporter of anti-bullying legislation, reportedly meeting with President Obama to discuss the topic in September and visiting the White House in early December to discuss the issue with administration officials. She dedicated her performance of “Hair” at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas to Jamey Rodemeyer, a 14-year-old fan who took his own life after years of anti-gay harassment. And last year, Gaga topped DoSomething.org’s list of the most charitable celebrities, in part for her work on behalf of gay rights causes.

“My daughter’s foundation was born out of her passion to create a better world where people are kinder and nicer to one another and are accepted for who they are, regardless of how different they may be,” Germanotta said. “She has experienced many of the struggles that our youth encounter today, and identifies with the lasting effects they can have without proper support. Together, we look forward to creating a new movement that will engage and empower youth and accept them as valuable members of our society.”

The Mother Monster’s commitment to the gay community was again recognized Thursday (January 19) with a nomination for Outstanding Music Artist at the GLAAD Media Awards.The awards recognize fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBT community across all media. In December, the diva was recognized with the Hero Award by the Trevor Project, a nonprofit organization that offers suicide-prevention services to LGBT youth.

During her acceptance speech at Trevor Project Live, Gaga touched on her wishes to someday make bullying a hate crime. “I hope that we can acknowledge all together that where this needs to begin is in the schools,” Gaga said. “I want my fans and people all over the world to know that there’s always somebody that’s listening. But I want them to know they’re listening before it gets too late.”

Jay's buddies Warren Buffet, Spike Lee, Steve Stoute, Kevin Liles and New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia all attended. "Hov always has big parties, so I'm definitely looking forward to going inside and mingling and jingling," Ashanti said. "We here at the reopening of the 40/40; we about to have a couple of drinks, a lot of beautiful women, New York City, the new joint &#8212; you already know," Wale said excitedly. Jigga's 40/40 closed last summer to undergo renovations and is now back with an updated look. While everyone was excited about the new club, baby Blue Ivy was a hot topic on the carpet. Ashanti couldn't be happier for the new parents, but when asked if she had caught a bit of baby fever herself, the "Foolish" singer made it clear that she isn't ready to be a mother just yet. "Oh no, boo-boo, no baby over here. I say it enough in my records," she said with a boisterous laugh. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:724136.id:1676907" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Music mogul and record producer Irv Gotti, who has three kids of his own, told MTV News that he shared some fatherly advice with his friend Jay-Z, but he wouldn't reveal any of it. "I'll keep that between me and Hov," Irv said. Then at that very moment, Jay breezed past the carpet trying to dodge reporters and flashing lights, but he did stop to give his old friend some love. After he and Gotti slapped each other five, Jay made a beeline for the 40/40 doors to get the party started.</p>

<P>Justin Bieber was enlisted by Ellen DeGeneres to help give back to Whitney Elementary, a Las Vegas school that helps underprivileged children. And in addition to donating $100,000 and $100,000 worth of toys, the <a href="/news/articles/1673555/justin-bieber-believe-charity-drive.jhtml">always-charitable singer</a> performed for the room full of Beliebers. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:702340.id:1672718" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Bieber even <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfkjI7PR0bg&feature=player_embedded" target="_blank">answered some burning questions</a> about his hair, his favorite color and his rise to fame. Actor talks to MTV News about role as a cop ‘battling for his life in the ultimate extreme.’

When walking into a theater to see a movie called “Man on a Ledge,” you might assume there isn’t a whole lot of mystery to what the film will be about. But it has to get more complicated from there, right? To find out, MTV News’ Josh Horowitz visited the New York City set and talked to the stars themselves.

“The movie is called ‘Man on a Ledge.’ It’s about a guy on a ledge,” said Anthony Mackie, one of the stars of the film.

Mackie’s co-star Elizabeth Banks expanded on the plot and revealed more of the mystery. “Really, everything’s in the title,” she said. “It’s about a man on a ledge, and the people around him who are trying to figure out why he’s on the ledge, and how to get him off the ledge before he falls off and dies.”

During the visit, Horowitz sat on the ledge to speak with the man himself, Sam Worthington.

Worthington explained that obviously there’s more to the movie than the man and his ledge. What makes it worth watching is the story behind the man: A good cop was framed and wrongfully sent to prison, and after a thrilling escape, he takes to the ledge in order to prove his innocence once and for all. “This is his retrial,” Worthington said.

“Good action really comes down to the stakes, what’s at stake, whether it’s rescuing the girl, getting the diamonds or whatever,” Worthington said. “He’s battling for his life in the ultimate extreme, just on a ledge. He’s on the edge on the ledge. Because the stakes are so high, I think that’s why we can label it a thriller, an action thriller.”

But even with high stakes, a movie taking place primarily on the side of a building has a limited amount of space to move within. Banks said that even though Worthington’s character is more or less stuck, there’s still a lot of movement. “He moves around, though, on the ledge, and I think also he’s constantly in danger. We’re really trying to keep him alive, even though he doesn’t want to jump,” Banks said. “There is always a danger that you could slip and fall. You have to unravel an entire scenario that’s happening.”

The scenario Banks referred to is the heist going on across the street, the whole reason behind the man on the ledge and his desperate attempt to clear his name.

For Worthington, “Man on a Ledge” has provided challenges as an actor he doesn’t face every day. “This one’s been different because I’ve been having to talk. I’m having to act for the first time probably ever,” he said.

That might not be what you expect from a movie with such a simple title, but Worthington learned from Mackie that acting is exactly what the movie requires. “Mackie’s done these kinds of movies, and he said to me, ‘Our job is to ground the action,’ ” he said. “That’s always what I’ve been trying to do. If we can get away with it on this one, it’s not just a gimmick movie then.”

He’s already issued a couple statements on the incident, but Adam Lambert sat down with Ellen DeGeneres this week and addressed his fight with boyfriend Sauli Koskinen for the first time in person.

A quick refresher: Lambert and Koskinen were both arrested in late 2011 after they engaged in a drunken brawl just prior to Christmas.

“We had too much to drink. We screwed up,” the singer told the host. “There were no injuries, no violence. It was more of childish, foolish, messiness… I was a little irresponsible and I think what I learned from the experience was that I owe it to myself, to my loved ones, and to my fans to be a little more adult and pull it together.”

As seen below, Adam concludes that his New Year’s resolution was to clean up his act and he now feels “amazing.”

That's probably why Los Angeles radio station KIIS FM tapped the pop princess to guest-host their annual Wango Tango music festival along with Ryan Seacrest on Saturday night at the Staples Center. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:652696" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The bill was a balance of pop and hip-hop, with acts like Ke$ha, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Ne-Yo, Selena Gomez, "Glee" 's Matthew Morrison, Lupe Fiasco, T-Pain, Jason Der&#252;lo, Far East Movement, New Boyz, Cobra Starship and newcomer Cody Simpson. Backstage, the media room went into a frenzy when Spears arrived in a red, geometric-print dress and a beaming smile. Owning her "femme fatale" moniker, Spears worked the carpet for a few moments while all of the cameras in the room were pointing at her. While that never happened, at least not onstage, Ke$ha delivered on her promise of a set heavy on her glitter gun. And she assured us she knew the dos and don'ts of handling that kind of firepower. "Do not spray yourself in the face with it," she said. "Do spray everybody else with it. That's pretty much it." While Joe Jonas wasn't performing at the show, he took a break from recording his solo debut to catch up with almost everyone backstage. "I didn't see Britney backstage, just said 'hello' to a couple of my friends," Jonas said. "Backstage is always [full of] people, especially having it at the Staples Center this time, I think compared to all the way out in the desert, it changes everything." Also happy to have Wango Tango in Los Angeles were locals Far East Movement. "Man, we grew up literally a few blocks away from here, and you can only imagine basketball games being played here," Kev Nish said. "So to come in here as performers, to be able to do our songs in this arena is a little crazy. We used to pass out CDs a few blocks [away], so we're very thankful. Paris Hilton does it again. E! News reports that the celebutante has accepted a plea deal that includes pleading guilty to misdemeanor drug possession and obstructing an officer.

In return, she avoids being charged with felony cocaine possession and gets two consecutive six-month jail sentences suspended. Translation: Paris won’t have to spend a night in jail.

“We fashioned a resolution which would give us complete control over her future,” Clark County District Attorney David Roger told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “If she does not toe the line and stay out of trouble, she will do one year in the Clark County Detention Center.”

Paris reportedly will enter her plea on Monday. She will be on probation for one year, have to complete a drug abuse program, pay a fine of $2000, and complete 200 hours of community service (brace yourself for those pictures- LOL).

Does this sound fair to you or do you want to see Paris serve some time? Honestly, I think you could stick Paris in jail for five years, and it wouldn’t change a thing.

Mitt Romney is suddenly looking for win #2 in a row rather than #3.

While the former Massachusetts governor appeared to eke out a slim eight-vote win in the Iowa caucus on January 3, the Des Moines Register reports that the final count of the vote puts former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum ahead by 34.

After a long night of vote-counting, Romney appeared to post the slimmest-ever margin of victory in Iowa, but GOP officials discovered inaccuracies in 131 precincts, not all of which affected the final vote, but which threw the race to Santorum.

Rick Santorum won 29,839 votes to Mitt Romney’s 29,805. In essence, state GOP officials said, Iowa’s results come down to a virtual tie, or “split decision.”

NBC News will still not declare a winner in the Iowa caucus, saying with results from eight precincts out of 1,774 missing, it is impossible to know who won.

Nevertheless, Santorum declared victory today after the updated results were posted.

What does this mean going forward? Not much. Romney put up a decisive victory in New Hampshire Jan. 10, while Santorum has faded fast since Iowa.

It does deprive Romney of bragging rights, though, and the story could help dissuade primary voters in South Carolina that he is the inevitable nominee.

South Carolina’s critical primary is Saturday, with Romney looking to hold off a surging Newt Gingrich, who shot past Santorum after Monday’s debate.

Newt got more good news today with Rick Perry dropping out and throwing his support behind him – and in essence giving him more screen time at tonight’s debate.

Then again, Marianne Gingrich also started doing interviews.

Late last year, in a message posted on his official site, Bruce Springsteen let fans know that he and the E Street Band were putting the finishing touches on a new album — their first since the death of iconic sax man Clarence Clemons — and concluded by promising “we’ll get back to you real soon.”

Well, now he has. On Thursday (January 19), Springsteen announced a brand-new album, Wrecking Ball, and premiered the first single, “We Take Care of Our Own,” over on his site. The album, due March 5, was produced by Ron Aniello and Springsteen, features 11 tracks, and, according to longtime manager Jon Landau, finds the Boss tackling decidedly of-the-moment issues.

“Bruce has dug down as deep as he can to come up with this vision of modern life,” Landau said in a statement. “The lyrics tell a story you can’t hear anywhere else, and the music is his most innovative of recent years … The writing is some of the best of his career.”

According to several reports, Wrecking Ball also boasts cameos from Rage Against the Machine guitarist (and fellow social activist) Tom Morello and former Pearl Jam drummer Matt Chamberlain, and is Springsteen’s “angriest album,” dealing with topics like economic injustice. It also reportedly features “unexpected textures — loops, electronic percussion … influences and rhythms from hip-hop to Irish folk.”

Springsteen and the E Street Band will promote the album with an extensive tour, but only European dates have been announced so far.

So what could <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyonc&#233;</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jay_z/artist.jhtml">Jay-Z</a>'s nursery for Blue look like? To get an idea, MTV News caught up with Andrea Edmunds, the president of PoshTots, a designer of choice for celebrity parents looking to create a dream nursery. Edmunds has worked with Heidi Klum, Kimora Lee Simmons, Gwyneth Paltrow and a host of other stars to help get their homes ready for a baby. On Thursday, Edmunds stopped by MTV News and put together a dream nursery for Blue Ivy, which included a star favorite item, the <a href="http://www.poshtots.com/baby-furniture/baby-furniture/bassinets-cradles/dynasty-cradle/18/207/1315/1550/poshproductdetail.aspx" target="_blank">Dynasty iron cradle</a>. "A cradle is a must for moms who want babies close by. We have a lot of celebrity moms who have purchased this actual cradle." Edmunds said of the cradle, which retails for $2,000. "It's sophisticated, it's elegant and &#8212; look at it &#8212; I think it says Beyonc&#233;." Edmunds also brought along some of her most popular baby gifts, which include angora booties (a popular gift among celebrities like George Clooney and Paltrow). "A silk charmeuse blanket retails for $450, and it's a favorite gift. Gwyneth Paltrow has given this as baby gifts and it's a favorite among celebrities." Now, Edmunds would not divulge if Beyonc&#233; is a client, but rumors have been swirling that she and Jay-Z registered for her <a href="http://www.poshtots.com/interior-design-guide/nursery-necessities/all-baby-cribs/fantasy-carriage-crib/3378/3381/1313/12867/poshproductdetail.aspx" target="_blank">Fantasy Coach Carriage Crib</a>, which retails for $20,000. "I will tell you that we do have a coach carriage, and we have sold the coach carriage." Edmunds said. <P><b>LOS ANGELES</b> &#8212; During the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, <a href="/music/artist/jackson_michael/artist.jhtml">Michael Jackson</a>'s fans have been as much a fixture at the courthouse as the <a href="/news/articles/1675068/conrad-murray-sentencing.jhtml">Jackson family</a>. When <a href="/news/articles/1675062/conrad-murray-sentence.jhtml">Murray was sentenced to four years</a> in jail Tuesday (November 29), MTV News spoke with those loyal fans outside the court to see if the maximum sentence was an apt punishment. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:715142.id:1673923" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "Four years &#8212; not enough, but at least something," said one fan, sporting a red jacket in tribute to MJ. "And where I come from, a little something is always better than nothing." One pair of friends might have been wearing matching <i>Thriller</i> T-shirts, but their opinions on Murray's sentence certainly didn't match. "If four years is the maximum and he got the maximum &#8212; I know she's not happy, but I'm happy," one of the women said, gesturing to her less-than-pleased companion. "I feel like justice was served and that L.A. can now be proud and stand tall." "It's better than nothing, but it's not even close to justice," said another fan, wearing Jackson's trademark fedora and sequined glove. "Not only was [Murray] negligent; he let the man die. It's unconscionable. He didn't even try. How would a heart doctor not know how to give CPR? It's insane." The cardiologist, who was found guilty of one felony count of involuntary manslaughter November 7, was facing up to four years in state prison in the death of the pop icon, but due to recent changes to alleviate overcrowding in California prisons, the judge in the case said he was unable to send the doctor to state prison for his crime. On top of that, <a href="/news/articles/1675080/conrad-murray-sentence-four-years-experts.jhtml">legal expert Mike Cavalluzzi told MTV News</a> that Murray will likely serve less than half of his four-year sentence. Those legal loopholes concerned a female fan outside the courthouse, but she was also happy that the maximum punishment was doled out. "The only thing I'm worried about now, with the overcrowding of the jails, he might get one year and house arrest," she told MTV News. "I'm just hoping it'll be four years, that's what I'm praying. I'm just glad that justice has been served today, and I'm glad justice can be served to the family and to the fans, and everybody around today will be happy and celebrate that justice has been served. And I'm sure Michael's looking from heaven right now."</p>

Hobnobbing with NFL elite. Hosting private-plane parties high in the sky. Setting a U.S. DJ attendance record in front of 26,000 fans. Launching a fashion line.

It’s the stuff legends are made of — or just everyday life for dance-music icon Tiësto.

So it should make total sense that the Dutch EDM star is now set to share his globetrotting adventures with his millions of fans around the world. Premiering Thursday, “In the Booth” is a 10-episode digital series that will bring fans closer to the man born Tijs Verwest than ever before.

Tiësto first revealed the series to MTV News when we caught up with him while headlining Boom, Belgium’s Tomorrowland Festival. “It’s more for the people to get to know a little more about what I do,” Tiësto said. “Not just the DJing, but also going backstage and stuff. Just the way I live. It’s more about the lifestyle of Tiësto.

“Expect the unexpected,” he added. “I never know what’s going to happen on a [given] day. You can have a crazy party on a jet with Swedish House Mafia or you can end up in Russia in the middle of nowhere at an afterparty.”

Indeed, “In the Booth” will take fans on an up-close-and-personal ride alongside Tiësto before, during and after he performs at the biggest festivals, exclusive parties and nightclubs around the world. Through it all, fans will be treated to commentary and seldom-heard stories from one of dance music’s most decorated veterans, as can be seen in the first-and-only teaser brought to you exclusively by MTV News.

In the clip, Tiësto shares a page from his diary: a story of how even the biggest DJ in the world can be double-booked — on two continents! With a gig commitment in Paris, how could Tiësto turn down a friend in need in Marrakech, Morocco? Especially if that friend is the gentleman who “runs Morocco.” Bring on the jet!

“In the Booth” will consist of 10 digital episodes, each approximately five to seven minutes long, and is co-executive-produced by Tiësto and Believe Entertainment Group, the New York digital entertainment company behind “The LeBrons” with LeBron James, “MommyCast” and “Tiger Beat Entertainment,” the upcoming series with Jennifer Lopez.

“In the Booth” will be available on Tiësto’s YouTube channel on Thursday.

A rumored set list for the January 24 "Glee" Michael Jackson tribute episode has hit the Web, and it features some of the late singer's greatest hits. <a href="http://perezhilton.com/2011-12-27-glee-michael-jackson-tribute-episode-setlist#.TvoRm0rkk7A" target="_blank">Perez Hilton</a> reports that 14 tracks have made the final cut, although the list has yet to be confirmed by anyone connected with the show. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:549513.id:1645343" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The set list (along with who will perform the track) reportedly includes "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' " (Blaine), "Bad" (the New Directions and the Warblers), "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" (Finn and Rachel), "Smooth Criminal" (Santana and Sebastian), "Never Can Say Goodbye" (Quinn), "In the Closet" (Brittany and Santana), "We Are the World" (the New Directions and the Warblers), "Black and White" (Puck), "Ghost"/"Monster" (New Directions), "Beat It"/"Billie Jean" (Warblers), "The Way You Make Me Feel" (Kurt) and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" (Artie). This is hardly the first time the show has paid homage to Jackson. Back in 2010, the <a href="/news/articles/1657395/glee-thriller.jhtml">New Directions performed his track "Thriller,"</a> complete with zombie garb, during an episode that aired after the Super Bowl. The show has also previously covered "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" and "Man in the Mirror." Back in 2010, the cast of the hit Fox show had only imagined what it would be like to have an entire <a href="http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2010/08/09/glee-michael-jackson/">episode dedicated to Jackson</a>. "I would love to do a Michael Jackson episode," Amber Riley told MTV News at the time. "You know, it's so many [songs that I love], but my favorite song by him is 'Human Nature.' I love that song." While Riley seemed psyched about the opportunity, castmate Jenna Ushkowitz found the possibility a little more daunting. "That's a scary, scary episode to do," she said. They went public with their romance when they showed up hand-in-hand to the 2010 Grammy Awards. That May, the two decided to separate their business and personal relationships, and it was confirmed that Trawick would <a href="/news/articles/1638945/britney-spears-confirms-professional-split-from-agent-boyfriend.jhtml">no longer be representing Spears</a>. The pair have always been pretty low-key. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest this March, the pop star opened up about their life together. "We're really normal," she said. The mutual love between George Clooney and his “Ocean’s Eleven” co-star Brad Pitt is anything but new. But on Sunday night (January 15), their love was on full-display as the pals put on some major emotional PDA for Golden Globe viewers.

In pop culture, three’s a trend, and if that’s the case, consider the Pitt/Clooney bromance incredibly trendy.

Walking out with a cane, an obvious friendly jab at Pitt’s current use of a cane, Clooney brought the first bromantic moment when he presented the video package paying homage to his friend’s Golden Globe-nominated film, “Moneyball.”

“I have to give it back to him or he can’t make it to the bar otherwise,” Clooney said of the cane. “It’s been called a baseball movie that’s not a baseball movie because it transcends the sport. This a David and Goliath story of a general manager, his assistant and a failing Oakland A’s team who takes on powerhouse teams like the New York Yankees. It’s a movie about turning conventional wisdom on its head. And it’s nominated for four Golden Globes, including ones for Jonah Hill and some up-and-comer named Brad Pitt.”

Pitt then showed Clooney some love back when he hit the stage to present the package for the Clooney-directed “The Ides of March.” “Young, idealistic campaign workers and dirty politics are the focus of a movie that shows how the desire for power can corrupt anyone in the political process,” he said. “Ryan Gosling is nominated tonight for acting and co-star George Clooney received Golden Globes nominations for his writing and directing of the film.”

The final shout-out of the night came when Clooney won for Best Actor — Drama for his work in “The Descendants,” beating out Pitt. While Pitt may not have won, his presence was felt on the stage.

“Wow, well, that’s the funny thing about evenings like this. You get the chance to catch up with old friends and see people that you haven’t seen in a long time,” he said before diving into the compliments for Pitt. “I wanted to say it’s nice to see Brad and it’s nice to be able to tell him not just what wonderful work he’s doing in two films this year, but also what wonderful work he does in the world to the rest of the people. I’m a fan,” he added, before also praising “Shame” star Michael Fassbender for his own talents in the frontal-nudity department.

In the weeks leading up to the show, Clooney was poised for many a “death match” at the onslaught of awards season.

The mutual love between George Clooney and his “Ocean’s Eleven” co-star Brad Pitt is anything but new. But on Sunday night (January 15), their love was on full-display as the pals put on some major emotional PDA for Golden Globe viewers.

In pop culture, three’s a trend, and if that’s the case, consider the Pitt/Clooney bromance incredibly trendy.

Walking out with a cane, an obvious friendly jab at Pitt’s current use of a cane, Clooney brought the first bromantic moment when he presented the video package paying homage to his friend’s Golden Globe-nominated film, “Moneyball.”

“I have to give it back to him or he can’t make it to the bar otherwise,” Clooney said of the cane. “It’s been called a baseball movie that’s not a baseball movie because it transcends the sport. This a David and Goliath story of a general manager, his assistant and a failing Oakland A’s team who takes on powerhouse teams like the New York Yankees. It’s a movie about turning conventional wisdom on its head. And it’s nominated for four Golden Globes, including ones for Jonah Hill and some up-and-comer named Brad Pitt.”

Pitt then showed Clooney some love back when he hit the stage to present the package for the Clooney-directed “The Ides of March.” “Young, idealistic campaign workers and dirty politics are the focus of a movie that shows how the desire for power can corrupt anyone in the political process,” he said. “Ryan Gosling is nominated tonight for acting and co-star George Clooney received Golden Globes nominations for his writing and directing of the film.”

The final shout-out of the night came when Clooney won for Best Actor — Drama for his work in “The Descendants,” beating out Pitt. While Pitt may not have won, his presence was felt on the stage.

“Wow, well, that’s the funny thing about evenings like this. You get the chance to catch up with old friends and see people that you haven’t seen in a long time,” he said before diving into the compliments for Pitt. “I wanted to say it’s nice to see Brad and it’s nice to be able to tell him not just what wonderful work he’s doing in two films this year, but also what wonderful work he does in the world to the rest of the people. I’m a fan,” he added, before also praising “Shame” star Michael Fassbender for his own talents in the frontal-nudity department.

In the weeks leading up to the show, Clooney was poised for many a “death match” at the onslaught of awards season.

Anyhoo, I’ve got a lot to tell you about gardening! (Did you know if you get dirt wet it turns into mud? Yuck.)

Fans support RPattz’s ‘Cosmopolis’ over ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2,’ advancing the indie film to the Final Four.

Wow. Just … wow.

In an upset for the ages, “Cosmopolis” defeated “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ in the Elite Eight round of the 2012 MTV Movie Brawl. Let us count the ways this is shocking. One, it’s a freaking “Twilight” film, one in a franchise that has so far grossed $2.5 billion worldwide and has catalyzed 2.5 trillion fever dreams in teen bedrooms around the globe. Two, “Cosmopolis” is a little indie based on a slim, highbrow novel by Don DeLillo, a writer who has, without a doubt, changed the face of postmodern literature but whose themes, characters and erudition don’t exactly make him a likely Twi-fan fave. And three, “Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ had thus far stormed through the Movie Brawl, dispatching challengers with ease and becoming the odds-on favorite to win the entire tournament.

But a curious thing happened — and its name is Robert Pattinson. Fans banded together, deciding to support, in “Cosmopolis,” RPattz’s new work (a possible post-vampire breakout role under the direction of David Cronenberg), rather than his been-there, sucked-that performance in a “Twilight” flick. The result, after almost 400,000 votes, was a decisive victory for “Cosmopolis.” “Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ will have to find some way to console itself (perhaps a mega opening in the fall will help), while Pattinson’s upcoming film moves on to face “The Dark Knight Rises” in the Final Four. “TDKR,” for its part, has shown a remarkable resurgence, repeatedly fending off challengers and, in the Elite Eight, besting “Dark Shadows,” the Johnny Depp adaptation that at one time seemed like a Movie Brawl dark horse.

On the other side of the bracket, the story continues to be Daniel Radcliffe’s “Woman in Black,” a seven-seed that followed up an upset victory over Kristen Stewart’s “Snow White and the Huntsman” with an impressive win over “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.” That contest literally was decided in the final few minutes of voting. When the dust cleared, another franchise had fallen at the feet of an indie flick led by a young international superstar. “The Hunger Games,” meanwhile, straight up embarrassed “John Carter” in the Elite Eight, setting up what is going to be a compelling Final Four battle. Let’s take a look.

Vote For Your Favorite Upcoming Flick In MTV’s Movie Brawl 2012!

East Region
Um, what the heck is going on? Daniel Radcliffe fans, where y’all at? You guys came out in force to dispatch “Snow White” and “Hobbit,” but one day into Final Four voting, you’re nowhere to be seen. “Hunger Games” has staked out a formidable lead, 62 percent to just 38 percent. For “Woman in Black” to come this far and then essentially not show up when the going gets tough would be a tragedy. Yet even a huge voting surge might do nothing in the face of the overwhelming show of support “Hunger Games” fans have shown for this March release.

West Region
If the East Region is not shaping up for a tense Final Four fight, the West Region is looking to be nothing short of a blowout. It’s looking like the luck of “TDKR” is about to run out at the hands of “Cosmopolis.” We’re frankly surprised “Hunger Games” fans aren’t coming out in force, as they had in past rounds, to vote against Pattinson’s films. Unless something drastic changes, we’re looking at a final matchup of “Cosmopolis” vs. “Hunger Games.” Not exactly how we expected the MTV Movie Brawl 2012 to play out, but this isn’t up to us. The fans have spoken.

Now, almost 12 months later, he's once again making some hair-related headlines. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:667806" width="240" height="211"></div><p> So, what has Bieber done now that has everyone <i>buzz</i>ing? Well, over the weekend, the Biebs was <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/justin_biebers_hair_goes_dark_side/286863" target="_blank">spotted in Los Angeles</a> donning much darker hair than his trademark sandy blond. When Bieber cut off his hair last year, MTV News spoke to his <a href="/news/articles/1659195/justin-bieber-haircut.jhtml">hairstylist, Vanessa Price</a>, who told us about his new look, noting that it had a lot to do with Bieber's growing pains. "We knew it was going to be a big deal," Price explained. "We knew it was going to shock fans, but we also knew it was going to be a change in terms of growing up. I think that's something that people adjust to. "We'd been talking about it for a while and shared some ideas, but literally the day of he was adamant about the haircut. He amped himself up for it," Price continued, before describing his momentary hesitation. "The minute we started cutting, he was like, 'Wait, wait, wait.' He loves it. He's enjoying it." The new hair color coincides with his girlfriend Selena Gomez's hairstyle changes. She recently <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/selenagomez/status/157224232835760130" target="_blank">tweeted</a> a photo of herself sporting multi-colored highlights in her hair. Bieber's new look may be part of a makeover for his upcoming album, <i>Believe,</i> slated for release later this year. He confirmed last week that <a href="/news/articles/1677263/justin-bieber-will-i-am-believe.jhtml">Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am</a> will appear on the album. Not only does Bieber want to <a href="/news/articles/1675015/justin-bieber-new-album.jhtml">grow up</a> when it comes to his look but also when it comes to his music. "The only conversation we've had about Justin's album that we're about to do is it's really important that it's the proper transition, because we've seen him [with] 'Baby,' now we're watching him grow up," Bieber's longtime vocal producer Kuk Harrell told MTV News in November. "And we can't just throw him into the adult game right away. It has to be the proper transition."</p>
